However, I did notice an interesting trend that you can use to get others to follow you or follow you back (it works better if you are already following them).

It all has to do with the current hot subject of retweeting. Many measure their success on twitter by the number of time their tweets have been retweeted.

What is a retweet? A retweet just means that you post a tweet you saw and liked and appened RT or rt in front of the original tweet (most client software makes this very easy to do). Its similar to you forwarding an email to others in your address book.

Now for the tip:

Many of the major tweeters constantly monitor their retweets. What I found out, is that a lot of times they will see your retweet of their original post and than follow you. It seems you get their attention by retweeting.

What is your own experience?

I think – as Andy Ihnatko said on TWIT – that Apple want more control over when and what to announce. They don’t want to be rushed into announcing something at an external event, just because people are waiting for them to do so. It makes sense.

But it also makes sense that even for their last MacWorld Expo Steve Jobs would be the one to give a keynote. By not appearing he is saying – change is coming and this is the new Apple, start getting used to it.

Change can come only if Steve Jobs brings it, but why would he do it?

Steve Jobs never struck me as the guy who could be persuaded by his board or stock holders to groom someone (or some ones) as his successor. Nor does he strikes me as a guy that would allow anyone to take his moment of glory on stage. Its just not like him to do so, and if he does then its because he has arrived himself to the conclusion that this is inevitable. To me this can only mean one thing – he is not well and he is doing what’s right for Apple.

If he will appear in their next major event – and I hope he does – it might mean I’m wrong.

Its just my personal theory – I have no inside information to support it.
